Got kids with energy to burn? Friends who love free stuff? A secret dream of meeting a mermaid or launching a whipped cream pie at someone in a swim cap? You’re in luck—Splash Day 2025 is making waves this Sunday, August 17, from 12–4pm at Ocean First (3015 Bluff St.) — and it’s totally FREE.

This annual event is Boulder’s unofficial end-of-summer splash party, packed with fun for the whole family. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or someone who’s only dipped a toe in Scott Carpenter Pool, there’s something here for you:

🧜‍♀️ Meet a mermaid – Yes, a real one (at least, according to your 5-year-old). Perfect for photos and wide-eyed wonder.

🤿 Try snorkeling – Ever wanted to breathe underwater? Here’s your chance to do it in a safe, supportive environment.

🛟 Water safety workshops & swim evaluations – Learn essential skills to feel confident around water (for kids and adults).

🎨 Arts & crafts, snacks, and outdoor games – So much fun you’ll barely realize you’re learning something too.

🥧 Pie your swim instructor – The most satisfying splash of the day, guaranteed.

🎁 Giveaways at 3:30pm – Must be present to win. Might be something cool, might be something inflatable!

The whole thing is hosted by the aquatic pros at Ocean First, a hub for swim lessons, scuba training, and marine conservation in Boulder. Whether you’ve got a future Olympian or a hesitant toe-dipper, Ocean First Swim School offers a warm, welcoming place to learn water skills year-round.
