Boulder Theater: A Cultural and Historical Icon 🎭

The Boulder Theater isn’t just a venue—it’s a living, breathing piece of Boulder’s history and cultural identity. From its humble beginnings in 1906 as the Curran Opera House, showcasing operas and silent films, to its modern-day status as a hub for live music, film festivals, and private events, this theater has seen it all.
Its transformation over the decades reflects Boulder’s own evolution, transitioning from a classic Art Deco movie palace in the 1930s to a bustling nightclub in the 1980s. Thanks to the advocacy of Historic Boulder, this beloved landmark was saved from demolition and continues to shine as a beacon of art and entertainment.
Step inside to admire its stunning Art Deco architecture, vibrant murals, and rich atmosphere. Whether you’re catching a concert, attending a conference, or soaking in the magic of a film festival, the Boulder Theater remains a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.
🎷 Fun Fact: Franklin D. Roosevelt once gave a campaign speech here back in 1920, making history under its iconic marquee!
